For those who want to make their own armor or weapons, I would suggest blacksmithing because it is indeed a very profitable profession. This guide will help you begin.
Blacksmithing would go best with mining as a secondary profession. However, if you want to save money, blacksmithing doesn’t really need a supporting profession as it can stand on its own. If you do decide to choose mining as a secondary profession, you wouldn’t really have to worry purchasing blocks of metal for the recipes. A lot of players choose this because it can definitely save them more money.
However, you may want to focus on blacksmithing first because mining can take a lot of your time. Expensive metal bars are not really needed until later in your profession anyway. You may continue your mining profession then to save you more time
You can easily master the profession of blacksmithing without exerting too much effort. This guide can show you how to do just that.
Let’s Begin
In order to get your apprenticeship, you must first avail of a trainer, which you may find in most of the big cities. If you are having a rather hard time finding one, just ask any of the other players. I’m sure you’ll be able to locate one in no time at all. You will also need a few basic things before you get going.
Coal, grinding stones, weak, strong, and elemental flux, gems, and leather are some of the things you will need before you begin. However, you may stick with the basics for your first few recipes.
Once you have all of the items stated above, you will need to purchase some plans from your trainer in order to be able to start making things. If you don’t have any money on you, you can always earn some gold by grinding. When you already have your plans with you, you may begin by opening your Spellbook and choosing Blacksmithing. It will provide you with the recipes you must complete and guide you through the process of creating them.
WoW Blacksmith Guide – Advancing in Skill
25 sharpening stones can help advance from skill level 1 to 25. These stones can either be purchased or looked for (if you want to save money). Sharpening stones are not that hard to find anyway. As you are advancing to level 25, you will need these stones for all of your recipes. Upon reaching this level you will need 40 rough grinding stones to get you to skill level 65, and about 10 coarse sharpening stones to get you from level 60 to level 75, wherein you will be well prepared to become a journeyman.
You will need about 25 coarse grinding stones to get from skill level 76 to 100. If you want to advance from 101 to 105, you will need to make about 5 silver rods which you will be making out of 10 rough stones and 5 bars of silver. Mining can help you get the bars that you need easier and faster. Otherwise, you may have to purchase these bars from a vendor or go to the Auction house to get some.
Silver rods can easily be sold to other players for extra money. It is useful especially to some professions like Enchanting because Enchanters need a silver rod in order to get their Runed Silver Rod. It may probably be the first thing you will ever sell. Other than that, you will also have to concentrate on creating 60 pair of bronze leggings as these may help you get from level 106 to level 125. This on the other hand can be created by purchasing copper and iron and combining them.
You will then need about 25 heavy grinding stones in order to get to level 150. If you noticed, all of the stones that you need to find or purchase are also used for the following recipes to get to the next level. Next thing you’ll realize is that you’re already creating items such as Flamebane Bracers.
You’ll be an expert once you have reached this point. It may not get any easier for you. However, you will now have the skill to create items of much higher value. All your hard work will finally pay off.
You will need about 25 bronze leggings in order to get from level 151 to 200. This will require about 150 bronze bars. If you noticed, I think it’s pretty clear why I suggested mining as a second profession. It can make things a lot easier for you. Purchasing all these bars can be quite expensive. Aside from this, you won’t really earn much from it as your profit margin will be much smaller. You will also need about 50 coarse grinding stones, 100 iron bars, and 25 lesser moonstones to be able to create about 25 iron counterweights.
In order to advance to level 210, you will need about 110 solid grinding stones. After reaching this point, you will need 10 heavy grinding stones and 25 steel bars in order to create 5 golden scale bracers. You also need 140 steel bars and 10 solid grinding stones to create 10 steel plate helms to be able to reach level 225 and become an artisan.
Things can be a lot more enjoyable once you’re an artisan. To be able to get from level 226 to 235, you have to use the recipe above to make 10 more helms. Then you will need 60 mithril bars and 45 solid grinding stones to be able to create 15 mithril spurs. At this point, you will need 10 dense grinding stones to move up to 260, and then you will already be able to create 5 thorium bracers using 60 thorium bars and 20 blue power crystals. You can now also create 20 thorium helms by using 80 yellow power crystals, 20 star rubies, and 480 thorium bars.
Once you’ve reached level 300, you have the liberty of choosing whether you wish to continue or not. Usually, players stop at this point because they find it too difficult to continue and move up to 375. However, continuing the quest means chances are you’ll finish your master blacksmithing and all the items you have created will have a very high demand.
Using Blacksmithing to its fullest potential
It would be a good idea to create more items while increasing your skills at the same time. Go to the Auction House and observe which items are high in demand. Purchase or search for the items you can need, as well as the recipes so that you can sell the items you have created when they’re done. This would be one of the best ways to make extra money to be able to purchase the other things you need to increase your skill level.
