PlayStation Portables (PSP) are not gaming devices but also serve as great media players. PSPs can have great audio and video playback making them great portable media players. With the increase in the capacity of PSP storages and memory sticks, PSP players can now store tones of movies on their PSP and watch them on the go. Most PSP models have excellent graphics rendering capability and have huge screens, up to 4.3 inches wide. This coupled with its high-fidelity stereo audio system makes watching movies on the PSP an enjoyable experience.

One of the great sites where you can download some videos is on the Google Video website. All of the videos on this website can be downloaded in a PSP ready format that can be immediately viewed once stored on your PSP. All you have to do is select the video that you wish to download, select the “Download Video to PSP” button and viola! You can also watch YouTube videos on your PSP so long you have the version of firmware that support YouTube video formats. If you are not sure which version would support such video playback, do consult your dealer for more information.

There are also tones of membership sites out there that allow you to download unlimited amount videos every month for a nominal fee. If the site specializes in videos and movies for PSPs, all the videos on the site are in a format that is PSP friendly. If you plan to download many movies, membership sites is the way to go as it s very cost effective. Try to join reputable membership sites and there are websites out there that offer movies laced with ad-ware and viruses.

The PSP only support videos in MP4 format. If you want to download and watch a movie on your PSP, you have to make sure that it is in that particular format. You can also download DVD movies onto your MP4. To do this, you will need a DVD ripper and video converter software. First, you would need to use the DVD ripper software to download the DVD movie into a file. After ripping the DVD movie, you would then need to convert it to MP4 format using the 3GP converter. It is best to find a video converter that has a ‘MP4 for PSP’ option. I have tried converting videos using the ‘MP4′ option that cannot by played on my PSP. After converting the video, upload in onto your PSP for viewing. If you plan to store many movies on your PSP, it is best to get the largest memory stick storage you can afford.

To upload movies to your PSP, connect you PSP to the PC using a USB cable. After this, select the Settings option in the menu. Press X and connection would be established between your PSP and the computer. Browse through the PSP memory stick on your PC to find a folder named ‘PSP’. Once you have located this folder, create two subfolders named ‘MP_ROOT” and ’100mnv01′. Select the movies that you wish to upload and transfer them into the ’100mnv01′ folder.
