They’ve done a great job, too. The fruits of their labours are there for you all to check out for yourself in the new Wolverine video game on the Playstation 3, Xbox and Nintendo Wii.

A Wolverine video game has never really been able to ensnare the essence of the character that legions of comic and graphic novel enthusiasts have enjoyed for many years. However, the brand new X-Men Origins: Wolverine video game does seem to hit the spot, which is very impressive seeing as the movie itself appears to have been a huge creative disaster. This could be a very rare event indeed- a licensed game that is actually much better than the
product it is based upon.

One of the first things you’ll probably take note of is the strong combat system that the game offers. It does capture some of the adrenaline-fuelled action that being Wolverine would allow you. His mutant healing factor adds another welcome element to the action too, and it is marvellous to see a mainstay of his comic book and movie incarnation recreated so well by the Wolverine video game programmers. Logan’s abilities in this new Wolverine video game constantly heal as you get injured, but you’ll need to hide and recuperate if your energy is sapped too much.

With progressively more powerful enemies to face throughout the game, it becomes an increasingly challenging experience the more you play. With great graphics and sound, it does throw you into the thick of the action, and with so many X-Men comic book characters showing up throughout this Wolverine video game, there is plenty to keep Wolverine fans excited. Another decent feature of the game-play is the ability to focus on certain aspects of Wolverine’s mutated senses by using the control pad, letting you spot bad guys, entrances and more that you might otherwise miss.

As an overall package, the X-Men Origins: Wolverine video game is a resounding success, giving you all the thrills of the Wolverine film on the best video games consoles with added elements that the feature film lacks. With crisp, beautiful graphics and thumping sound design, the game really gets you inside the character and his infamous rage, and is a exciting new addition to the number of Marvel Comics video games. The new Wolverine video game is better than the movie, Bub.
