Rogues are an odd class in World of Warcraft. You either love to play them or hate to play them. They are the bane of PvP and dueling because they can do so many things that make them hard to handle. I am sure that if you enjoy the battlegrounds you have been “rogued” in the past. It can be very frustrating.

A Rogue is a Melee type of class. They rely on their ability to avoid blows rather than handing them out themselves to win a battle. Rogues should always be wary of agro meters, because in the end game drawing the attention of a boss will spell disaster for them.

The secret to leveling a Rogue successfully is in understanding the ins and outs of the class.

1.) You are NOT a tank!

You need to understand that Rogues are not made to destroy mobs head on. During the lower levels you may be able to do this, but as your enemies get stronger you will not be capable of this. Fight within your means.

2.) Keep a close eye on the Agro Meters

For Rogues, watching the agro meters are the key to killing the bosses – not who can do the most damage.

3.) Rogues best defense is to avoid hits.

As a rogue you should be concentrating on building your agility. Agility translates into higher dodge ability. Higher dodge ability means less chance of being hit.

4.) Optimize your equipment

To ensure that your damage output is always near the top of the list you need to make sure that you have the best equipment that you can afford. This point does not pertain just to rogues but to all classes.

When choosing equipment, Rogues need to focus on items that provide the most Agility, Haste, Critical Hit, and Attack Power. The most important of these attributes is Agility.

5.) Lockdown

A highly effective way to kill opponents is by locking them down. If fighting 2 enemies at the same time, first sap one and then work on killing the other using gouging and other abilities. Next repeat this process to destroy enemy number 2.

To sum up, as a Rogue you need to realize your weaknesses, watch your agro meters closely, focus on your agility, maximize your equipment, and lockdown opponents for easy wins. If you can remember steps, you’ll find that leveling will be much easier.
