Konami have a great track record of producing top quality soccer games for the Playstation. This version is up to the usual standard due to a number of enhancements and tweaks that have been made. These changes have enabled Pro Evolution to match and even better Fifa’s best efforts for the PS2.

A really great new feature of the 2010 version is the much enhanced realism of the game. A pace of game is delivered that is no different from what you see in the professional game every weekend. Included are off the ball runs and also triangulation of passes which are both key to breaking down the opposition. This in turn forces the player to make use of the strengths of his teammates to create good goal scoring opportunities. You will no longer see examples of soft goals there would have sometimes been in the previous versions of Pro Evolution, no the only way to succeed will be to work the channels and precise passing.

Another key advancement is in the Player Characteristics. Key skills of many of the players have been attributed named, which allows gamers to incorporate them into their game strategy

There is also Instant Tactical Switching included which means each team has unique settings matching their real-life playing styles. This can include sophisticated play and high numbers in attack, pressing from the midfield area, a strong defensive line and also width right across the pitch. Also for the offense, there are default settings supporting wide attacks and the aim to move in the back of the opponent’s defence line. There is an option for the gamer to summon the bar instantly during a match, to adjust team tactics, to enhance their defence or strengthen their attack.

There is now an addition to the Permanent feature of the Pro Evolution series. This is the inclusion of a Champions League and Europa League mode, which really increases the fun of the game. This feature can be accessed as a stand alone competition or as part of the master league. There has also been a great increase in the visual effects, due to better than ever camera angles and the player’s faces have been enhanced making them even more lifelike and realistic.

This is the best Pro Evolution game so far and as good as anything Fifa can offer, all for a great price.
