April the 3rd will see the release of the new DSi, a new thinner lighter version of the DS Lite, that brings many multimedia capabilities to Nintendo’s latest portable console.

Ever since the 1990 release of the GameBoy, Nintendo have been at the forefront of handheld gaming, with over 100 million GameBoys sold worldwide, Nintendo brought handheld gaming to the masses. With the DS, Nintendo had another hit, adding an extra touch screen to the dynamic.

The Nintendo DSi is a powerful portable games console, with a sleek clamshell design and featuring Nintendo’s trademark touch screen technology. Proving that bigger isn’t always better, the DSi is 12% slimmer than the DS Lite yet it houses larger, brighter 3.25″ screens. Other features include 2 built in digital cameras, picture editing, music playback and the ability to browse the internet wirelessly.

Available 3rd of April in Black or White. Pre-Order Nintendo DSi

Two Digital Cameras: The most obvious feature of the Nintendo DSi is its two 0.3 megapixel 640×480 digital cameras. One is located in the outer shell pointing, allowing users to snap pictures of their friends and family and the other is on the internal hinge pointing at the user acting as a webcam. These cameras are motion-detecting and able to accurately detect facial features and players’ movements, this adds a new dimension to gameplay allowing games to be played by movement alone. The DSi camera software includes 11 special effects and also allows images to be edited in real-time or after they’ve been taken, distort, morph or frame your friends. Share your photos wirelessly or save them onto an SD memory card and upload to your PC.

DSiWare: Available through the DSi Shop, Nintendo DSiWare allows users to download content such as new themes and unique games. Available for free is the Nintendo DSi Web Browser, surf the web on your DSi. Other content is purchased from the DSi Shop using Nintendo DSi Points.

Enhanced DSi Sound: The Nintendo DSi has improved sound and volume quality, users can fully enjoy playing music files as well as in-game music. The DSi Sound application lets you mess around and play with music and sound, change the pitch or speed and apply effects.

In the Box: Included with every DSi: one Nintendo DSi System, one Nintendo DSi stylus, one Nintendo DSi AC power adapter, an easy start guide, manuals (basic and controls) and a support booklet.

[ad#336x280-txt-336ca1-inpost]

As an owner of a Nintendo DS, you often hear about people who download games to play on their system. If you are new to this sort of thing, it may be difficult and confusing to get started. Where would I get them from? How do I get them? What if I need help figuring out how to get them on my system? These are several questions you may ask yourself.

You can always start off by doing a quick Google search. Nintendo DS downloads or Nintendo DS Game downloads will probably net you many, many pages of results. Many sites will probably offer the downloads in a torrent or a peer to peer format, requiring you to download a separate program in order to download the games themselves.

After you download them, you may even need yet another program to open them up before trying to figure out how to get them onto your Nintendo DS system. This adds to the complication of just getting a game. Additionally, you have no idea what sites to trust. The internet is full of nasty viruses that can take over you’re computer, or constantly pop up undesirable ads. An anti-virus may help protect you, but it can’t catch everything. Additionally, due to the very nature of torrents and peer to peer downloads, you may find it takes days to download just one game.

All of the seeders may even disappear, leaving you with only a portion of a game that already took you a couple of days to get. Then you’ll have to start all over again from the beginning. Some of these sites may even promise you free games, but once you click on the link you get jerked around into clicking link after link to ‘vote’ for the site, wasting time, and never even seeing the game you wanted. Or, perhaps, you finally get the game downloaded, only to find it doesn’t work. Is the download itself bad? Did you do something wrong? As difficult as it was to get the game in the first place, imagine how much more difficult it will be to get help. My recommendation? Join a site like PocketDownloadCenter

They have tutorials for beginners, and 24/7 technical support. The downloads are extremely fast, and you have no limit on how many Nintendo DS games you can download. In fact, you’ll probably download the games faster than you can play them! Additionally, you can download music, movies, software and media from a massive and continuously growing library of over 150,000 downloads. What about those internet viruses? Not something you have to worry about, as each item is thoroughly checked before it is even made available for you to download. Joining a site such as PocketDownloadCenter will make your game downloading experience a lot less frustrating than trying to figure out everything on you’re own. Even with all the other benefits, that reason alone is enough for me to recommend it highly. Who needs more stress?
